Teardown, haul-away, and a clean yard
| Pool type | Typical OC range |
|---|---|
| Small soft-sided / metal-frame pool | $800–$1,200 |
| Medium steel-wall pool | $1,200–$1,800 |
| Large steel-wall pool with deck surround | $1,800–$2,500 |
| Site restoration (level + fill + clean) | included in the quote |
| Deck or hardscaping removal (add-on) | quoted per job |
Your on-site quote is the final price. Pools with wooden decks, buried plumbing, or extensive hardscaping around them quote higher -- the disassembly is the work.
How an above-ground removal runs
- Drain: the pool drains first, planned to the street gutter or cleanout -- never your yard, never the neighbor's. A big pool drains overnight while we prep.
- Disassemble: frame comes apart in sections, coping and liner out, supports and hardware sorted. No sledgehammers through your fence -- disassembly, not destruction.
- Sort and recycle: metal frames and supports go to metal recycling; clean liners and usable parts are separated. The landfill gets what's left, not the whole pool.
- Haul: everything leaves the same visit. The yard doesn't become a staging area.
- Restore the site: ground leveled, ruts filled, debris hauled -- a clean yard ready for whatever comes next. Full re-grading or new sod quoted separately if you want it.
Removal vs. resurface: different pools
- This page is for above-ground pools. Teardown and haul-away -- the pool leaves and the yard stays.
- In-ground pools don't get removed this way. They get resurfaced -- plaster, pebble-quartz, or fiberglass, $5K-$12K. Different buyer, different job, different page.
- The test: if it has walls you can take apart with a wrench, it's our removal job. If it's concrete in the ground, it's a resurface quote.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to remove an above-ground pool in Orange County?
Above-ground pool removal typically runs $800-$2,500 in Orange County: a small soft-sided or metal-frame pool at the low end, a large steel-wall pool with a deck surround at the high end. The quote covers draining, disassembly, frame and liner haul-away, and basic site restoration. Pools with wooden decks or extensive hardscaping around them quote higher because the disassembly takes longer.
What happens to all the water?
We drain it first -- that's step one, not the hard part. Where it goes depends on your yard: most above-ground pools drain to the street gutter or a cleanout over a day or two, and salt-water pools need the drain handled more carefully. We plan the drain path before we start so your yard and the neighbor's aren't the plan.
What do you do with the pool frame and liner?
Metal frames and supports go to metal recycling; clean liners and usable components are sorted for recycling or disposal; the rest is hauled. We don't just landfill the whole thing -- the frame steel is the easy recycling win, and we separate it on-site.
Does the yard get fixed after the pool is gone?
Basic site restoration is part of the job: the ground is leveled, ruts are filled, and debris is hauled so you're left with a clean yard, not a crater. Full re-grading, new sod, or hardscaping are separate projects -- tell us what the yard's next life is and we'll quote the restoration to match.
How long does above-ground pool removal take?
Most above-ground pools come down in a day: drain, disassemble, haul, restore. Large steel-wall pools with decks or buried plumbing take two. The drain itself runs on its own schedule -- a big pool drains overnight while we do other prep, so a one-day removal is really a drain-plus-one-day job.
